Once a door frame, now a basin for clean water, the octagonal pedestal stands outside the west entrance of the R.C. Church in Ceathrú An Teampaill. It crossed the road from the old church site to become a benniter, changing from a threshold into a ritual tool. The chamfered base and shallow carved dish suggest human hands adapted rather than discarded what they found.

This octagonal pedestal feature (c. 1m high) with chamfered stops at the base has a shallow basin carved in its upper surface: it serves as a free-standing benniter immediately outside the west entrance to the R.C. Church. A plaque on the wall beside the holy water stoup (GA119-049001-) nearby records that it was brought from the old church site (GA119-049----) across the road to the north. Although the original function of this pedestal is unknown it is seems likely that it may originally served as a section of a door jamb that was recut and carved into a free-standing benniter.
