What is recorded here

Two medieval arch stones, chamfered and pock-dressed, crouch inside a humble culvert at the SE corner of a walled holy well. They may have framed a doorway or window in the nearby Franciscan friary before men dragged them down and forced them to hold back a small stream. The stones still obey that new command, guiding water past penitential stations while waiting for someone to remember the taller building they once served.

In the SE corner of a walled area enclosing a holy well (GA125-001002-) and associated penitential stations (GA125-001001-). Two chamfered and pock-dressed arch stones of medieval date have been reused in a culvert on a small stream that has been channeled along the S side of the enclosed area. The stones may have been removed from a window or doorway of the Franciscan friary (GA125-058002-) that lay c. 245m to the SSE. A medieval doorway (GA125-001003-) has been inserted into the W wall.
