Aorangi was a New Zealand steamship that was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-75 on 28 May 1917 in Kirk Sound, Scapa Flow, Orkney, during World War I. The ship was carrying a cargo of coal, and all 19 crew members were lost; it is significant as one of several vessels sunk in Scapa Flow during the war, highlighting the vulnerability of the British naval base.
