Anthony Lally was born in Cabra, County Dublin, on 26 October 1953, the youngest ever winner of the Tour of Ireland at age twenty. His father Mick honoured through annual Dublin Wheelers races, his brothers Sean and Jimmy raced beside him, and a grandson Connor continues the line. After the 1980 Olympics he crossed to Sydney, became CEO of Sunsuper, chaired financial services firms, and still rides his bike there.
