Three low stones still protrude from the bogland on the north side of Slieve Miskish mountain, though bridge builders removed the others. Local tradition calls the site a burial place, giving the remaining stones a solemn purpose despite their broken number. The loss of the other stones may have stripped the group of its full shape, leaving behind a stub of memory instead of a complete circle.
