Anne Crawford Acheson was born in Portadown, County Armagh, Ireland on 5 August 1882. She grew up at 51 Carrickblacker Road, learned sculpture in Belfast and London, and later invented anatomical plaster splints that eased suffering for broken limbs during the First World War.
