Amber

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Amber as Steamship (period Unassigned)-(1917). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Amber* was a steamship built in 1917, later identified as a collier. It sank in 1917 off the coast of Ayrshire, Scotland, after colliding with the *Clydebank* in thick fog. The wreck was significant as it contributed to the development of improved navigational aids in the Firth of Clyde.
