What is recorded here
Alice Boase was born in County Dublin on 23 March 1910, two years before her family left for Nyasaland and later Uganda, where she would become one of the first women appointed to the Legislative Council in 1954. That much is clear. What is less certain is how a child of a magistrate’s household learned the shapes of power, distance and belonging that later carried her into Ugandan public life. Dublin gave her a name and a date; Africa gave her a role.
