Zelos

Steam Trawler (period Unassigned)-(1939)

What is recorded here

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Zelos as Steam Trawler (period Unassigned)-(1939). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Zelos was a steam trawler built in 1939, later converted to a fishing vessel. It was wrecked in 1967 near Peterhead, Scotland, after running aground on a sandbank during a storm; no lives were lost, but a significant portion of its cargo of herring was lost, marking it as an example of post-war fishing industry challenges in northeast Scotland.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
