This grey commemorative plaque records: Worsted Seld 1397-1550 On this site stood a market for Englishmen to sell the cloth of Worsted. In 1550 it was moved to the Guildhall.
Worsted Seld was a significant medieval marketplace in Norwich where English merchants sold worsted cloth, an important textile product that contributed to the region's economic prosperity and international trade from 1397 to 1550.
