Wooston Castle is a multivallate hillfort where defensive banks and ditches climb a steep spur above the River Teign. The earthworks stretch far enough to suggest a combined defence system with nearby sites, although excavation found no dateable proof for the assumed Iron Age origin. The castle still towers over the valley like a forgotten guard post, waiting for someone to explain why so much stone and soil went into watching the water below.
