Woodycastle is an Iron Age fort in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Its exact position is known to the nearest metre, yet the name suggests timber, shadow and temporary life rather than permanent stone. People may have built shelves, stored grain or watched the valley from that ridge before disappearing without a trace. The fort still holds the shape of human urgency, waiting for someone to imagine the hands that made it.
