Woodgrange Rath and Tower House

Woodgrange Rath occupies a County Down hilltop where a broken tower-house wall still casts a shadow across the old earth works. The remaining stretch measures 3.6m and keeps one splayed loop, sharp enough to suggest a gun port or a place for watching danger. Nobody knows whether the rath preceded the tower or the tower completed the rath, but the junction of both still stands above the land like an unanswered sentence.
