What is recorded here
On a gravel ridge. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as 'Windmill' but evidently out of use by the time of 3rd ed. (1930) when the words 'in Ruins' are appended. It is shown thereon as a small unroofed circular structure (D c. 5m). The site has since been extensively quarried (see GA043-093001-) and no trace survives.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
