This stone originally belonging to W Stead to which he tethered his dogs and pony is probably the only monument to his memory in Darlington. The boulder is a fitting symbol of his indomitable courage. He perished on the TITANIC April 15th 2012.
William T Stead Memorial is a boulder in Darlington commemorating William Thomas Stead, a pioneering British journalist and early advocate for social reform and women's rights. Stead, who perished on the RMS Titanic in 1912, was a prominent figure in investigative journalism and used his platform to campaign against issues such as child exploitation.
