Harbour pier in County Antrim carries a blue plaque marking the landing of William III on 14 June 1690. That date belongs to the larger campaign around the Boyne, when armies, alliances and fate collided in Ireland. A small brass plate does little justice to the scale of what happened nearby, yet it pins the event to the exact place where boots first touched stone.

King William III of England, also known as William of Orange, played a crucial role in the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and his landing in Ireland in 1690 marked a significant moment in the Williamite war against the Jacobites.
