The *William Huskisson* was a British steamship that sank on 15 September 1830 near Liverpool, England, after colliding with the *Liverpool and Manchester Railway train* during the opening of the world’s first intercity railway. The accident resulted in the death of William Huskisson, a British MP, and several others; the wreck is historically significant as the first recorded railway-related fatality and a pivotal event in early railway safety awareness.
