Sir William Henry Bragg was a physicist who significantly advanced the field of X-ray crystallography, developing the first X-ray spectrometer at the University of Leeds; he shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1915 with his son Lawrence for their services in the analysis of crystal structure by means of X-rays.
