William Duke of Queensberry, also known as Rt Hon. Duke William Douglas PC, was a prominent Scottish nobleman and patron of the arts; his son, William Earl of March, continued his legacy by overseeing significant architectural projects, including the construction dated 1702 noted on this plaque.
