This black commemorative plaque records: Within this close on 6th May 1793 was born William Dick 1793 - 1866. Founder of the Edinburgh Veterinary College. Incorporated in the University of Edinburgh in 1951 as the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and in 1964 instituted The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
