Duke William Cavendish was the 6th Duke of Devonshire, known as the Bachelor Duke for his lifelong bachelorhood; he played a significant role in the British aristocracy and was a notable patron of the arts. Duke Alexander Duff was the 1st Duke of Fife, a Scottish nobleman who served as Governor-General of Canada from 1898 to 1904, significantly influencing Canadian governance during his tenure.
