Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Whalsay, Ward of Symbister Ness as Chambered Cairn (neolithic), Marker Cairn (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Neolithic chambered cairn, dating to approximately 3000–2500 BCE, with a later post-Medieval marker cairn. The site reflects early burial practices and later landscape marking in Orkney’s prehistoric tradition.
