Wetherlam rises to approximately 668 metres and is part of the Lake District National Park, known for its distinctive rounded summit and prominent position in the northern part of the park. The hill is composed mainly of Borrowdale Volcanic Group rocks, and its name may derive from the Old Norse for "weather hill," reflecting its exposed position. It matters as a key landmark for hikers and a site of natural beauty within a protected landscape.
