What is recorded here

West Whitecastle Farm holds a carved stone from the late 13th or early 14th century, buried beside a prehistoric hillfort that ploughing and trees have worn smooth. The farm has likely fed Libberton for centuries, its fields turning over old walls and forgotten lives. What the stone marked then is lost, but it still stands as a reminder that the land remembers even when people stop looking.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records West Whitecastle Farm as Marker Stone (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
