Wentworth Castle Gardens is a Grade I registered park where Thomas Wentworth built a rival monument to his cousin in the early 1700s. He carved formal gardens and a mock castle above the valley, weaving global trade and political ambition into every stone. The house later became a college while the gardens decayed, but a new trust restored the land and returned the valley to public life.
