What is recorded here
Number 3 Cottage stands inside Wemyss Castle in Fife, a small dwelling caught in the shadow of a much larger estate. It may have housed a keeper, a worker or a tenant, giving the castle a human temperature instead of a monumental one. The exact purpose has faded, but the numbering suggests a managed place where several cottages shared one address and one world.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Wemyss Castle, Number 3 Cottage as Cottage (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
