According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) there was 'a were upon ye River Swier betweene ye sd lands & ye lands of Grenane afforsd' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 308). The 'sd lands' are 'Garrychane' and the area has been identified with Toberaheena townland. The weir remains unlocated within this townland.
