What is recorded here
Wedge tomb in Teernahillane is a short wedge gallery on a bog saddle between Miskish Mountain and Knockoura, built from overlapping slabs with a closed eastern end and small standing stones across the west. It has no surviving mound, so the chamber still appears as a narrow stone mouth rather than a buried chamber. People may have placed the dead there during a time when the land around was open enough to see the mountains, then the bog rose and erased the shape they first made.
On level area of bog, on saddle between Miskish Mountain and Knockoura. Short wedge-shaped gallery (L 2.9m; Wth 1.9m at W end, 0.9m at E) aligned NE-SW; each side formed by two overlapping slabs; E end closed by inset backstone. Number of small thin slabs, standing on edge, cross W end of gallery. No indications of surrounding mound. (de Valera and O Nualláin 1982, 35, Co. 51)
