Waun-Wen is a medieval castle ruin marked by an earthwork, preserved in the national record rather than crowded by tourists. The name suggests a hill or height, fitting for a defensive site built when borders shifted and violence was ordinary. Its absence from modern memory does not reduce the purpose behind its stones.
