What is recorded here

A watermill is depicted on the Down Survey barony map (1656-8) of Forth barony at Sigginstown (10) and is mentioned in the terrier or commentary of the parish map in NLI (ms 725; microfilm: P 7384, N 6380). According to the Book of Survey and Distribution (1660s) Edward Siggins of Sigginstown castle (WX053-001----) owned 106 acres here in 1640, and 44 acres at Atlistowne and Rochland, now called Ecclestown, in Tacumshin parish (Simington 1953, 304-05). The precise location of this mill is not known.
