Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Wallace's Knowe as Earthwork (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Wallace's Knowe is a likely early-medieval ringfort, or rath, associated with earthworks in a Scottish context. Local tradition may connect the name to Sir William Wallace, though this is unconfirmed, and such sites were often later linked to folklore involving fairies or ancient heroes.
