Virginhall, Old Church

Linked to the veneration of the Virgin Mary, the site may have been a focus for local pilgrimage and prayer, particularly for fertility and protection. Though the original church is now ruined, traditions of holy wells and Marian devotion are common in Scottish rural areas, often incorporating pre-Christian elements into Christian practice.
