This blue commemorative plaque records: Leeds Town Hall. This greatest of monuments to Victorian municipal government was opened by Queen Victoria on 7 September 1858. Its architect, Cuthbert Brodrick, created a civic palace with courts, council chamber, mayor's parlour, offices, bridewell and concert hall, the whole crowned by a magnificent tower.
