A polychromatic monument 'erected by public subscription…to the memory of GEORGE JAMES VAUGHAN JACKSON [1860-98] of Carramore [sic; see 31303902]' representing an important component of the early twentieth-century built heritage of Ballina. NOTE: Erected by Scott and Rae (established 1881) of Glasgow following the rejection of a design for a monument (1899) by C.W. Harrison and Sons (closed 1972) of Great Brunswick Street [Pearse Street], Dublin.
