URN BURIAL: BISHOP'S COURT in Mullynure

URN BURIAL: BISHOP'S COURT

What is recorded here

Bishop's Court in Mullynure held an urn burial during the Bronze Age, when people still buried what they loved instead of forgetting it. The small vessel may have carried bones, ash or a last measure of life, while the court above waited for feet, festivals and ordinary days. That much is known. The rest belongs to imagination, because the dead do not answer questions.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as URN BURIAL: BISHOP'S COURT. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; BRONZE AGE. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Bronze Age urn burial; associated with funerary practices of the later prehistoric period in Northern Ireland. Its presence indicates local ritual and burial customs during a time of significant cultural development across the region.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
