Stanley Neale cleared the choking scrub in 1927 to reveal stone terraces and exotic trees hidden beneath centuries of neglect. Before him, Virginia Woolf's aunt called the castle home, and Woolf herself may have wandered those same paths near Manorbier. The medieval heart still beats beneath the nineteenth-century additions, with original towers and spiral staircases waiting for visitors who wander the gardens today.
