U-297 was a German Type VIIC U-boat that was lost in the North Atlantic in April 1945, likely due to depth-charging by a British aircraft. It is believed to have been carrying a crew of 50, all of whom were likely killed. The wreck is of historical significance as it represents the final months of the U-boat war in World War II.
