U-77: North Sea

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U-77: North Sea as Submarine (first World War). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

U-77 was a German U-boat that served during the First World War; it was lost in the North Sea in 1917 after colliding with the British light cruiser HMS *Carnarvon*, resulting in the deaths of all 25 crew members aboard the submarine. The wreck is significant as a well-preserved example of a First World War U-boat in Scottish waters.
