U-1206: North Sea

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U-1206: North Sea as Submarine (20th Century)-(1945). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

U-1206 was a German U-boat (Type VIIC) that sank in the North Sea in May 1945, shortly after Germany's surrender, due to friendly fire from a British aircraft. It was carrying a crew of 52, all of whom perished; no cargo was lost. The wreck is significant as one of the last German submarine losses of World War II.
