U 1274 was a German U-boat surrendered to the Allies at the end of World War II and later sunk as part of Operation Deadlight in 1945. It was scuttled in Scottish waters, likely in the North Sea or Atlantic, along with other decommissioned submarines to prevent their use by other nations; no lives were lost, and its wreck is now a protected historic site.
