U-53 (possibly): North Sea

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U-53 (possibly): North Sea as Submarine (20th Century)-(1940). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

U-53 was a German U-boat lost in the North Sea in 1940, likely sunk by depth charges from a British aircraft. It had no survivors and played a role in early World War II naval warfare in the region.
