Ulster History Circle recorded the first voice heard on 2BE-BBC Northern Ireland from Linenhall Street on 15 September 1924. Sir Tyrone Guthrie, 1900-1971, broadcaster and theatre director, gave that station its opening breath. A man who shaped stages elsewhere also touched the birth of Northern broadcasting, though the plaque preserves only his name and date.
