St Ninian's Church at Tynet is associated with St Ninian, a 4th-century Christian missionary venerated as the patron saint of the Scottish Borders and Cumbria. Traditionally, he is credited with establishing early Christian communities in the region, and holy wells or sites near such churches often became focal points for local pilgrimage and healing traditions.
