Ty Bychan, Castle-Upon-Alun House

Field Barn

What is recorded here

Ty Bychan is a Post Medieval field barn in the Vale of Glamorgan, small enough to disappear into grass but solid enough to resist forgetting. It may have stored oats, sheltered a farmer from rain, or waited for hands that never returned. The name means small house, yet size is never clear until someone enters, touches wood, and measures the dark.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Ty Bychan, Castle-Upon-Alun House as Field Barn from the Post Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
