Two round barrows SE of Castle of Comfort Inn

Scheduled monument

What is recorded here

Two Bronze Age burial mounds still stand southeast of Castle of Comfort Inn, marking dead persons or family groups long before medieval settlement touched the Somerset landscape. They are not a castle, chamber or display; they are earth shaped for death, preserved under schedule 1006217. Approach them as buried people, not a tourist trap.
The National Heritage List for England records Two round barrows SE of Castle of Comfort Inn as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
