There is a story that a holy well once stood at Tubbrid in County Kilkenny. People may have brought sick children, grieving parents or stubborn prayers to its water, believing it could touch what medicine cannot. The well has vanished from common memory, but the name still points to a place where ordinary people asked the unknown for mercy.

The well may have been a site of pilgrimage and ritual, particularly for cures related to women’s health and childbirth, reflecting broader Celtic and Christian traditions linked to Saint Brigid.
