Why this matters
Tretower Castle was built in the late 13th or early 14th century by the de Clavering family, a prominent Norman lineage in the Welsh Marches. It is remembered as a well-preserved example of a medieval Marcher lord's castle and is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument managed by Cadw.
