Scurlage Castle, also called Trecastle, still stands as a fortified house from the Medieval period in Rhondda Cynon Taf. It may have been a violent little kingdom of stone where families argued, hid or raged against the rain. The official record preserves the name but not the door handle, leaving the chamber dark and waiting for someone to imagine the people who lived inside.

Trecastle (Trecastell, Scurlage Castle) was built by the Scoury family in the late 13th or early 14th century and is remembered as a significant example of a Welsh medieval fortified house.
