Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Transocean Iii as Oil Drilling Platform (modern)-(1974). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Transocean III was a semi-submersible oil drilling platform that capsized on 16 April 1979 off the coast of Shetland, Scotland, during a severe storm. All 123 crew members were rescued, but the platform was lost; it was later salvaged in 1981.
