Bawn

What is recorded here

Ballynacarriga is a ruined tower in County Cork, Ireland. Fragmentary remains of its bawn survive, including a short wall running north from the tower and the remains of a circular tower to the east. The place is a wrecked stronghold, not a complete building, and what is left is enough to show that people once lived, defended and forgot the site.
Fragmentary remains of the bawn survive. They consist of a short section of wall running N from the E end of N wall of the tower house (CO108-051003-) and the remains of a circular tower to the E. (Power et al. 1992, 321-2, no. 3058) Compiled by: Paul Walsh Revised date of upload: 15 July 2015
